Visit Mobile, Alabama
Play on Mobile Bay
Perhaps your first stop in Mobile will be the bay area. This stunning part of the city is on the Gulf of Mexico and flanked by the Fort Morgan Peninsula to the east and Dauphin Island (home to white sand beaches and a spectacular boardwalk) to the west. Don’t miss the chance to visit the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. While the battleship is the main attraction, the memorial park is also home to a WWII-era submarine, bombers, fighter planes and “skysweeper guns” from the 1950s. The park is also home to concerts, festivals and sporting events.
Other Great Mobile, Alabama Attractions
Southern charm is alive and well in Mobile, and there are plenty of activities that make it a great RV snowbird destination. Mobile has some charming historic homes and is known for its eclectic storefronts. There’s a lot to keep you busy all winter. Be sure and spend some time at the Alabama Contemporary Art Center, the History Museum of Mobile, GulfQuest National Maritime Museum and the Mobile Museum of Art.
Celebrate Mardi Gras
While New Orleans may be synonymous with Mardi Gras, the celebration occurred in Mobile first. Each spring, Mobile has several days of parties and parades in the days preceding Fat Tuesday. Celebrations include anything from family-friendly events to adults-only parties in area clubs and bars. If you can’t make it for the Mardi Gras festivities, exploring the Mobile Carnival Museum is the next best thing.

Want to see even more alligators? Hop a ride on an airboat with Airboat Adventures. During the tour, you may also see bears, hawks, turtles and eagles.
Tour the oldest attraction in Mobile: Colonial Fort Conde, which was built in the 1700s. Some sections have been reconstructed, while others have been replicated. Spend the day at the Gulf Breeze Zoo, explore one the city’s historic districts, and visit the Mobile Botanical Gardens.
Explore Gulf Shores
You’ll fall in love with the white sand and turquoise waters of the beach at Gulf Shores. Spend a fun day splashing in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico or simply relax on the beach and soak up the sun.
Looking for something a bit more active? Explore the backcountry trail that’s perfect for hiking and biking, float the back bays on a kayak or play a round of golf.
There are plenty of shopping and dining opportunities, too. In fact, you can have some of the freshest seafood possible at restaurants that cook your day’s catch.
