RVers Blazing New Trails with Fitness Focused Travel

Published on February 23rd, 2023

Fitness Focused Events and Meet-Ups Drive These Runner-Cyclists

While the RVing lifestyle is often epitomized by 5 o’clock somewhere afternoons and campfire nights, that still leaves a lot of daylight unaccounted for. For runners and cyclists Gary & Linda Chatham, their days are usually measured in miles, not hours. In their quest to meet other fitness focused RVers, the Chatham’s have founded Blazing New Trails, a community-based website to bring together RVers that prefer cycling to cards, and running to rummage sales.

What is Blazing New Trails?

The idea of Blazing New Trails is just that, blazing a new trail, or genre of RVers looking to do a little more with their time once the wheels stop rolling. The Chatham’s lives have always included some form of fitness through the years, with Linda enjoying cycling, yoga, and walking. Gary on the other hand has been a runner and cyclist for 40+ years, competing in all distances up to a marathon, and even running the Boston Marathon. They also directed 5K and 10K road races for nearly eighteen years, raising $110,000 for cancer organizations.

The forming of Blazing New Trails combines their love for travel with a desire to share their passion for running and cycling with other enthusiasts. Meetup rallies are planned at epic destinations in the hope of building community and experiencing the thrill of participating in memorable fitness events.

Fitness Focused or Fanatic – All are Welcome

All levels of fitness enthusiasts are welcome, with two groups to choose from. RVers Gotta Race is for runners and walkers. For cyclists who enjoy organized rides, Blazing New Trails offers RV Pedal Power. A meetup for either of these groups might include two to three days of social activities. The pinnacle is often a race or organized bike ride. The foundation of these rallies is having fun and fellowship while building comradery with other fitness enthusiasts. Attending a rally isn’t required for joining Blazing New Trails. Most RVers find it a source of inspiration and motivation.
