Best RV Sewer Hoses (Updated 2022)

RV sewer hoses aren’t a glamorous accessory. But finding the best RV sewer hose for camping is essential for this fun lifestyle. Whether you’re just getting started with your new RV or have been around the block a few times, you need this RV equipment.

But choosing the best RV sewer hose is a confusing process. Shop online or in person and you’ll find a mind-boggling variety of different brands making waste hose products. How do you pick the right sewage hose for your RV? What’s the strongest hose that won’t break and make a mess on the road? And what’s a good price for a high-quality RV sewer hose? Let’s try to cut through the confusion.

3 Things to Look for in a High Quality RV Sewer Hose

We believe there’s a handful of different RV sewer hose criteria to consider when choosing one for your camper. Here are the top things to consider when buying a new RV sewer hose:

  1. Leak-proof RV sewer hose adapters and connectors
  2. Durable and puncture resistant RV sewer hose material
  3. Easy to use and install at any RV hookup pedestal

Do I need a sewer hose for my RV?

Yes. If you are using your toilet, shower, or sink; you will absolutely need a sewer hose. RV sewer hoses are not specifically designated for just your black water tank but will also be used to drain and empty your gray water tank as well.

If you don’t plan on using running water while you are out on your trip, you may not have to worry about carrying a sewer hose with you. But you still need one to remove the waste water from your holding tanks.

So, who really makes the best RV sewer hose on the market?

We’ve dug into a handful of the different sewage hoses on market to find out what really makes a sewer hose an ideal hose. And, we want to know whether or not it’s worth spending a little extra money on what is considered a “high end” RV septic hose.

Overall #1 Best RV Sewer Hose: Lippert Waste Master Sewer Hose

Lippert Waste Master best RV sewer hose

Pros

  • Hose fittings stay attached providing leak resistant connection
  • Secure CAM lock connection rather than bayonet
  • Puncture resistant hose
  • Easy grip handle with integrated shut off valve
  • 5′ 6″ compressed and stowable but 20 feet extended

Cons

  • A bit more expensive than other sewer hoses on the market
  • Additional hose extensions can be pricey as well

Using the Waste Master RV sewer hose waste management system has completely simplified dumping your tanks.

Leak-Proof CAM Lock

Unlike your old RV dump hose that is required to twist on and off your empty valve, the Lippert Waste Master sewer hose is permanently attached to your RVs drain outlet, using a special CAM lock connector.

The CAM lock connector helps contain sewage and ensures a leak free dumping experience. No more disgusting messes!

Durable Puncture Resistant Design

Lippert designed the Waste Master RV sewer hose with a heliacal coiled exterior which is made to withstand punctures as well as the normal wear and tear that comes with RVing.

Unlike cheap generic septic hoses, dragging the Waste Master hose along the ground shouldn’t tear it; though you shouldn’t make a habit out of it.

The Heliacal design also makes it incredibly easy to be tightly compressed down from a 20ft long dump hose down to a mere 5 foot 6 inch hose, making it very easy to store without using gross storage bins!

One of our favorite features of the Waste Master sewer hose is its nozzle and shut off valve.

Lippert created the hose with a permanent heavy duty nozzle that tends to fit seamlessly into most dump stations.

The nozzle has a “hands off” exit point – meaning that rather than handling the head, you’re handling a valve and handle.

The shut off valve is in place to avoid overloaded and backed up drains.

With a simple pull, you can easily and quickly shut off the flow.

Waste Master has an “anti clump” sewer hose design that is unlike any generic dump hose that you’ll currently find on the market.

The interior of the sewer hose is much smoother, which means that there are less places for your waste to get trapped.

Storing the hose is easy and clean.

Lippert’s Waste Master hose design allows for the sewer hose to be tightly compressed, reducing the size from a large 20 foot hose down to an easily storable 5 foot hose – no more gross storage bins!

The RhinoEXTREME is a great runner up to Lippert’s Waste Master. At a fraction of the price, you’ll see a couple of similar features to the Waste Master.

Camco designed the RhinoEXTREME sewer hose with a durable crush proof exterior.

The hose can withstand the odd accidental abuse from your RV tires and bounce back to near perfect form – without a dent or scratch!

One of the best features that the RhinoEXTREME RV sewer hose has to offer is it’s large oversized see through elbow.

Though other brands do come equipped, or at least offer a clear elbow, Camco has almost doubled the size compared to other hoses on the market.

This oversized elbow allows for easy and complete dumping without second guessing whether or not your black tank is still flowing.

  1. I have owned four RV’s and probably five different sewer hose sets. The best RV sewer hose that I used was the Camco RhinoFLEX 20-foot RV Sewer Hose Kit. I love that they extend and contract but hold that shape by popping into place instead of just stretching. I like the clear end so I can tell when the takes are rinsed thoroughly. They collapse down to a size small enough to fit into a small tote for storage.

    • I also like the availability of spare parts like extra end caps, clear tube extention, rubber sewer pipe adapter, hose extension, etc.

  2. I bought a Waste Master when they first came out. I liked the cam lock connector.
    But that was about it.
The hose itself is heavy duty but that makes it
HEAVY to Handle and very bulky to store.
The Off and On valve I thought would be neat..
But without a way to connect it to the sewer meant that I had to hold it in place. So I had to stay right there holding the valve. Not my favorite.. if you shut the hose valve and it full it weighs a ton. Because of its size it is bulky heavy and difficult to store. So after using it on a month long trip. I reinstalled my old Rino Flex and it’s still my first choice after many years.

  3. The best sewer hose setup that I have used, was the Thetford Smart Drain setup. Unfortunately, they have discontinued it. It had the same clamp type setup as the Wastemaster but not a permanent connection to your sewer system so you could easily switch back if need.
