Victoria Advocate: 3 options for places to stay when you visit Port Lavaca

Visitors come from all over Texas to enjoy Port Lavaca. Their choices of where to stay are as varied as the visitors themselves and really depend on their idea of a vacation. From camping in a tent or RV to renting a beach house or staying in a hotel, Port Lavaca has all the standard amenities and some off-the-beaten-path adventures.

For the self-contained travelers who have their vacation home on wheels, Port Lavaca provides a handful of publicly and privately owned RV parks. Perhaps the best thing about staying in your RV is that you get to sleep in your own bed even while on vacation and you have more control over your meals. Some consider it the healthier, more affordable way to travel.

For the adventurer, there is always the tent-on-the-beach route. Many of Port Lavaca’s RV parks allow tent camping as well. Sleeping in a tent is a great way to slow down and reconnect with nature. Some studies show sleeping outdoors actually improves your health. A tent is portable and easy to toss in the back seat of the car. Depending on the tent, setup is usually pretty simple.
