Velvac releases Road-IQ video data system

Velvac will unveil its Road-iQ , a ground breaking connected-vehicle platform, next week at the National RV Trade Show.

Road-iQ brings motorhome users the connectivity and intelligence they have come to expect from luxury automobiles, but adds enhanced vision, recording, and security features uniquely suited to improving the safety and convenience of the RV experience, said Paul Hughes, Velvac’s director of sales.

Road-iQ is a game changer, by offering complete control to motorhome owners. It starts with improved visibility of the areas around the vehicle using Road-iQ’s 360-degree Surround View feature, and then adds the ability to record, playback, and share video from the vehicle’s integrated cameras,” said Hughes. “What’s more, it extends those capabilities to controlling motorhome functions from any smart device. Users can even remotely view their motorhome’s cameras and recorded video to insure the safety and security of their pets, property, and loved ones — all in real time.”

At the heart of Road-iQ is improved driver safety. Camera views from around the vehicle are automatically changed and displayed on a high-resolution iPad tablet computer based on the driver’s speed and direction. This means 360-degree surround views for low-speed maneuvering and 270-degree rear-facing views for lane-changing, merging, and other driving conditions, providing greater peace-of-mind to RV operators by practically eliminating blind spots.

Road-iQ_logoRoad-iQ also wirelessly connects critical data from the motorhome to the outside-world, allowing access to comprehensive vehicle diagnostics, live and recorded video views from up to seven cameras installed in the vehicle, and location tracking from almost anywhere.

Further, the Road-iQ system controls a myriad of cabin features, from lights, shades, and HVAC, to monitoring tank and battery levels — even acting as a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot for up to eight devices around the vehicle.

Road-iQ’s simple tablet computer interface makes its powerful features easy to use by anyone. Want to share recorded video footage with friends and family? Touch the “share” button and enter the e-mail, text, or social media address to send the footage to — it’s that simple, said Hughes.

Didn’t have a camera ready when that special moment occurred? No problem, find the footage you want from the video archives, clip it, and save it for the future. Road-iQ’s remote access features even offer drivers the ability to remotely view their RV’s cameras from any location on any device using Road-iQ’s web portal, further enhancing safety and security, he explained.

“Road-iQ has been a major development project for Velvac that was made possible by the strategic acquisition we made last year of the operations and assets of Qualnetics, Inc.” said Jeff Porter, CEO of Velvac. “We previewed a beta test version of the system at last year’s RVIA show, but it’s great to be able to launch the production version at this year’s RVIA Show — the reception has been very strong. Initial systems are already successfully deployed as we ramp-up our launch through Q1 of next year.”
