The overhead bed features its own reading lights. Sportsmobile’s first conversions were for the VW and Ford vans. The pop-up system vans and their conversions were state-of-the-art at the time, but very basic compared with today’s, states the website. Sportsmobile introduced the pop-up roof system to the Sprinter to provide room for extra beds or additional storage area.
“The Penthouse features an electrically powered and reinforced fiberglass top with five vinyl windows to provide light and ventilation,” wrote Edsall. “The electric top can support a roof rack” and when raised offers additional interior height. “The overhead bed features its own reading lights.”
