The Opus folding camper trailer, developed for the British and Australian markets by Purple Line, is now being built in the U.S. with amenities designed for the American consumer.
The trailer is only 13 feet long when closed but can be expanded at the campsite with a tent structure that folds out to form a large living space with a ceiling that is 7 feet, six inches high.
Paul Liner, Purple Line USA managing director, said British and Australian designers created the Opus for glamping (glamor camping) in the United Kingdom and to handle the rugged terrain of Australia. For the American market, the chassis and running gear have been upgraded and the interior has been redesigned. A steel chassis supports the aluminum frame, and the absence of wood in the body structure keeps the weight low so the trailer can be easily towed.
