Kurt and Sandy Bretz and their children, Cassie, 16 and Jack, 14, at their Fullerton Home on Monday.

In February of 2005 Kurt and Sandy Bretz bought a 25-foot travel trailer to enjoy with their young children who were 5 and 3 years old at the time.

Since then they have taken 100 trips with 101 planed in November. Sandy has documented each and every trip in a scrap book style journal they have been all over our great state, although most of our trips are within a two hour drive.

Orange County Register: Family time, times 100

From the publishers of the Orange County Register:

Kurt and Sandy Bretz, a young couple with a 6-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son, just weren’t spending enough quality time together. Both worked full time, Kurt as a tax assessor and Sandy as an elementary school teacher and owner of a scrap-booking store.

“It was so busy, we were were not having family time,” Sandy said. “We were tag-teaming it.”

The solution: Rent a travel trailer and go on a family outing to the Sequoias. And even though a bear broke into a cooler and drank their beer, it was still a fun time. So Kurt plunked down $17,000 for a 25-foot Surveyor, a travel trailer that could be towed behind the family car.
