The thick forest around Robbers Cave State Park seems to preserve time. Massive rock formations not only stand as a testament to time but also appear to protect the legends of the area, including the former hideouts of Jesse James and Belle Starr.
With the summer heat behind us, the sunlit days are warm enough to be comfortable and not so cool as to be uncomfortable. Fall is arguably the best season for outdoor activity and a visit to an Oklahoma state park.
A good one to consider is Robbers Cave State Park for its Fall Festival, which will be Friday through Oct. 16. This is an extremely popular event, according to Aron Miab, manager of the park in eastern Oklahoma, near Wilburton.
