Las Cruces News: Explore state parks, museums, monuments at bargain prices

From the bloggers at Las Cruces News.

You can explore exotic cultures, relive some fascinating times in the Borderlands, go back to the dawn of mankind’s history, and then keep traveling on back to prehistoric times. You can also get glimpses of the future, exploring the solar system and far beyond.

At bargain prices, you can enjoy family adventures that include hiking, camping, fishing, birding, boating, picnicking, stargazing and much more. And you can do it all without leaving the state.

“There’s a lot of neat new stuff happening in state parks, including star parties, and festivities and special programs. People should go to nmparks.com and check out the special events,” said Beth Wojahn, a Santa Fe native who is communications manager for New Mexico’s Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department.

New Mexico has 35 state parks and many of the most popular are located in our region.

For those looking for less crowded getaways, the Land of Enchantment boasts 35 state parks and 24 of those parks have ponds, streams, rivers or lakes.
