If you plan to take a road trip with the kids this summer, Daybreak family fun expert Erin Kirkland of AKontheGo.com said you may want to consider trading in the car and hotel rooms for a rental RV.
“What people need to remember, if they rent an RV they’re bundling in meals, they’re bundling in lodging and bundling in transportation,” explained Kirkland. “When you look at the initial pricing of this, maybe it looks high, but when you start taking out how much that’s going to cost in Alaska in the high season, this is actually probably much more affordable.”
For those worried about driving a large vehicle like an RV, Corbin Sawyer with Great Alaskan Holidays said the vehicles are more manageable than you think.
“You shouldn’t be worried at all,” said Sawyer. “I understand there’s a little nervousness at first because it looks like a big vehicle, but we have a nice instructional video, talks about tips about driving — and really, within about 15, 20 minutes of being on the road, people come back and say, ‘I wish I would have got the bigger one, because this is real easy to drive.’”
