Summary: Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach State Park is located right on Lake Michigan and you can walk to the beach from your campsite. The park offers a variety of sites from tent to big rig and grass to parking lot. It is a nature lovers park with opportunities for biking, hiking, fishing, boating and other outdoor activities. I was not expecting resort-like amenities at a state park; however, the sites are huge so you don’t feel like you are on top of your neighbor.

Pros

Beach within walking distance
50-amp available
Cement pad sites available
Large sites available
Hiking trails
Easy check in
Lots of trees
Decent size playground
Bike trails
Located near a large resort that is part of the state park
Dogs allowed
Plenty of room to walk and for kids to ride bikes on the road that runs through the park
Located far off of the main road, so no city noise
Less then a hour drive to Milwaukee, Wis.; and one hour to Chicago

Cons

No water hook up on sites
No sewer hook up
Dumpsters are far from some sites
Showers and bathrooms are outdated
No pull-through sites
Can be noisy on weekends when weekend campers are there
Dogs can’t go on the beach
