From the bloggers at the Happiest Camper.
It’s been 6 months since I last blogged, but there’s a good reason. We’re having a baby! I realized I was pregnant at 3 weeks because that’s how early I started showing symptoms. At 5 weeks, we shared the news. At 7 weeks, I began throwing up all day every day. Soon after I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum, also known as HG or the Princess Kate disease. It is defined as losing more than 10% of body weight due to extreme morning sickness while pregnant. I assure you there is no less glamorous way to be affiliated with a princess.
Since I couldn’t keep anything down, I had no energy. I sat on the floor of the shower to bathe myself, which usually ended in tears. On more than one occasion, I pulled into the grocery store parking lot but couldn’t muster up the strength to go inside. At 25 weeks, the puking finally became less frequent. That’s 5 months solid without keeping anything down. I tried the medications, had a pump installed in my stomach, IV’s delivered fluids. It’s been miserable, and blogging was the last thing on my mind.
