It rained hard all night Tuesday night, and when the alarm went off at 7:30 yesterday morning neither one of us wanted to crawl out of bed. But we had miles to cover in another day on the road, so after snuggling for half an hour or so we finally did get our bodies into an upright position and ready to face the day.
We had a 276 mile trip ahead of us, from the Win River Casino in Redding, Calif. to our friend Nancy Kissack‘s place in Atwater. We are just not morning people and it took us a while to get in gear, but after checking e-mail and answering those that had come in overnight, we were ready to hit the road.
We could have dry camped for free overnight at the casino in the truck parking lot but we have reached the point in our lives where we prefer our creature comforts, so we opted for the full hookup RV park, which was basically 13 pull-through sites on blacktop with 30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer.
This isn’t camping in the traditional sense, and RV park is probably a stretch, but included with our overnight fee was use of all the amenities at the casino’s hotel, including the swimming pool, spa, exercise room. and other things we really have no use for. But still, it was a nice secure place to spend the night.
