Great American Country: The best family-friendly campgrounds

From the bloggers at Great American Country.

Memorial Day unofficially kicked off summer and left most of us longing for more long weekends and lazy days. With the official start of summer fast approaching, it’s time to think about vacation plans, if you haven’t already. Tropical destinations are always popular vacation spots, but camping can be as much of an escape as a beach trip, providing the perfect opportunity to get the whole family outdoors to explore and enjoy nature. Consider some of these top 10 family-friendly campsites for your next summer adventure.

Silver Lake Resort and Campground – Mears, Mich.
Movie nights, fishing, sailing, biking and dune buggy-ing — yep, Silver Lake pretty much has it all. For the adults, a winery is located nearby, and kids will enjoy Lake Michigan’s beaches and the onsite playground. Lodging options include tent camping, RV hookups and cabin rentals.

Fall Creek Falls – Spencer, Tenn.
Tennessee’s largest and most visited state park boasts gorgeous waterfalls, miles of hiking trails, a golf course, an Olympic-sized pool and horseback rides. Lodging options include campsites, cabin rentals and an inn.

Devil’s Fork State Park – S.C.
Enjoy access to the 7,500-acre Lake Jocassee, which is clear enough for scuba diving and perfect for trout fishing. Kids (and ocean-lovers) will love swimming and kayaking in the crystal-clear lake. Stay in a cozy cabin or pitch a tent on one of 84 campsites.
