Summary:

My travels frequently take me back to my hometown of Madison, Wis., where, despite having four lakes, there aren't a lot of RV parks in the area. I found Creekview Campground by accident, and have made it my temporary home whenever I visit the Madison area.

Located between Edgerton and Stoughton, right off I-90/I-39, the family-run campground is tiny. In fact, it's located in the "back yard" of a farm house, and right next to a par 3 golf course. It has less than two dozen RV spaces, and all but one are 30-amp. There is one 50-amp connection. All sites include water, but none offer sewer hookups. However, the campground does have a dump station.

There are absolutely no amenities at this RV park, it is simply a place to park the RV. There is no pool, no Internet connection, no playground, no recreation of any sort, except for the free rowboat located on a little island by the pond.

However, the creek running through the park, and the ability to overlook the golf course, on a country road makes it a nice place to spend a few days. The sites are very large and can easily accommodate a motorhome and tow vehicle. You can hear Interstate noise, but it is muffled by the golf course.

Pros

  • Easy access to Interstate 90/39
  • Beautiful, tranquil setting with a creek running through the property that feeds into a pond
  • 30-amp service and water
  • Large sites, many with shade
  • Located about 20 minutes from Madison

  • Very friendly owners, with an on-site manager
  • Adjacent to a par 3 golf course
  • Plenty of fireflies during summer months
  • Level grass sites

Cons

  • No sewer connections or pump-out service, so extended stay users must unhook to use the dump station.
  • No campground Internet connection, but Verizon MiFi connects at 8.49 mbs download and 5.88 mbs upload.
  • No recreation amenities, just a place to park the RV
  • Maneuvering into the dump station may be a challenge for larger rigs. My motorhome is 35 feet, and the front wheels are at the top of a big incline when lining up to the septic connection.
  • Campground offers a shower and restroom, but it is very rustic
  • No website, therefore no online reservations
