Nova Family Campground is located just three miles from the beach and seven miles from the Daytona International Raceway, yet the facility provides a quiet respite and ideal base camp for Daytona Beach activities. Canaveral National Seashore is less than 20 miles away, and the Ponce de Leon Lighthouse is only nine miles from the RV park. So is the Ocean Center shopping center and amusement park.

This medium-sized RV park is immediately off Hwy. 99, just south of Bakersfield. The park is very flat, with easy to drive roads, and long pull-throughs, making it a great overnight stay. It is about 10 miles south of the shopping areas of Bakersfield.

I found the park to be well maintained and generally very accommodating. Located along the banks of the Braden River, the park features a 12-acre private island with walking trails, a gazebo overlooking the water, a lighted fishing pier and a large picnic shelter complete with kitchen and grills.

The campground offers a few sites with great river views and a two-story deck right in front of them. The laundry room/ shower building is newer, and it is about a two-mile drive from Interstate 40. We plan to go back again when we have some time -- and enjoy a river view site.

This small new RV park is right off Interstate 5, just south of Salem. The camping is in a gravel lot, with a small field for dogs or play. But, it is very convenient for a night or two of sleep before heading north or south on I-5.

Garden of the God’s RV Resort – Colorado Springs, Colo.


The RV park is extremely close to the infamous Garden of the Gods and Red Rock Canyon open space which includes miles and miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. The Midland trail runs along the backside of the park and allows you access to the quaint town of Manitou Springs and Garden of the Gods Park.

This small casino RV park is clean, but more off-route and tight than we would have thought. It is advertised as being on I-5, but is about 5 miles off the highway and though town. The entry area and driving in front of the casino are very narrow, with confusing signs and large speed bumps.

Monte Vista RV Resort – Mesa, Ariz.

The resort has two large pool with waterfalls, a spa with a waterfall, brand new tennis and pickle ball courts, baseball and bocce ball courts. In the winter, the park offers daily woodworking shop, ceramics, jewelry making, and weekly quilting and painting classes. Many people spend all winter here.
