Camping with dad creates long-term memories

With sad faces, the Gerber girls say goodbye to the borrowed Winnebago motorhome that allowed us to take our first family roadtrip adventure.

First of all, happy Father's Day to all the dads currently RVing with their families, stowing equipment from this weekend's outing or planning their next adventure. Camping with dad is one of the more memorable things kids get to do with their fathers and, in hindsight, I wish I had spent more time camping with my three daughters.

Long story short, we inflated the flat tires, somehow got the engine running, put a couple of orange crates inside for seats and headed for our “garage” which was a wooden shack in a back alley off of Seventh Avenue that belonged to another friend.
