Box Canyon Blog: Going on a float down the Verde River

Floating at a measly 70 cubic feet per second, there are huge boulders to negotiate. Maureen questions going sideways through rapids, and wishes she would have stayed home to watch Days Of Our Lives.

The Verde River is all of ankle deep on a titmouse — a rolling series of Class I rapids interspersed with still-water ponds and headwind.

It’s 2 p.m., the sun is bearing down and I’m sweating like a sow in heat — and we’re still on the bank. You just can’t trust a man who forgets to bring beer to a float trip.
