Aluminarium: New Mexico rest stop camping

Saturday we drove five hours east, including stops for gas and photos in front of welcome signs. Five hours is pretty much the max we’re willing to drive, so that night we called it quits at the Las Cruces Overlook Rest Area.

In New Mexico, you’re allowed to stay up to 24 hours in a rest stop, and since we had another big day ahead of us, it was a convenient place for us to stay.

The Las Cruces Overlook Rest Area has a great view of Las Cruces and a giant roadrunner sculpture.
