Aluminarium: Carlsbad, N.M. boondocking

If you’re looking to escape the highly social RVing scene in Arizona this winter, we’ve got the place for you.

We spent the past week camping off Dark Canyon Road, about 12 miles north of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Since we had to drive both days last weekend, we opted not to go to the caverns. We’ve been once before, and now with the elevator out of service, it wasn’t really an option because we have to work during the day and the park recommends starting your descent into the caverns by noon.

I haven’t left camp once since we got here. Usually, this makes me really stir crazy, but this week, we got some much needed downtime.
